“For my family and I, this is a bullet that will fit our gun,” said former state representative Andy Gipson as he was introduced as the eighth Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce on Thursday March 29. Gipson was appointed to the position by Governor Phil Bryant.
The 59th Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet was held on March 22 at the National Guard Armory in Mendenhall.
The silent auction began at 6:30 p.m. and included items such as decorative carvings and original paintings by Wade Stevens.
The Magee Trojans are 6-5 through their first 11 baseball games, and are undefeated in district play with a 2-0 record. Both district wins came in dominant performances over Velma Jackson in which they won 16-0 and 25-0. The defense and pitching of the Trojans has been up and down so far this season.
Saturday, the Mendenhall Police Department was dispatched to 200 Downs Avenue Lot 7 after receiving an emergency call. Mendenhall Police Chief Candy McCullum explained that a dispute happened at the property between two subjects whom McCullum identified as Jeffery Williams and Melvin McDonald.
The 59th Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be hosted at the Mendenhall Armory on March 22.
The banquet will include a silent auction that begins at 6:30 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by the program and dinner, which will be catered by Smokey Mountain Grill.
