Progress has been made in establishing Keep Mendenhall Beautiful and Keep Magee Beautiful organizations as affiliates of Keep America Beautiful.
The City of Mendenhall has successfully lowered its fire protection classification from eighth class to sixth class.
The change will benefit everyone in the city. Mayor Todd Booth said, “I feel real good about this and this was something that we first started looking into as a city board because we knew it could help everybody.”
A structure fire claimed two lives early Monday morning.
Simpson County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Chris Wallace said that an emergency call was made at 5:32 a.m. reporting a structure fire. Deputies, along with the Magee Fire Department, were dispatched to Rodney Sullivan Road in the Saratoga community.
A hearing was held Friday January 12, to discuss the appeal of the Mendenhall Zoning Board’s decision to deny Jaron Priest’s request for an 18 feet variance on his building project.
The project encompasses three homes to be built on the lot located at 612 North Main Street.
On January 3, 2018, at approximately 9:57 p.m. , the manager of Wards Restaurant in Magee reported to the Magee Police Department via 911 that they had been robbed at gunpoint by a man who had taken an undisclosed amount of cash from the business. The suspect had then fled from the store.
