On Wednesday, Jan. 2, the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department reported that a suspect had been seen impersonating a police officer. Investigator Chris Wallace said the suspect had been reported for stopping people on Highway 28 near Maddox Fruit Stand.
The City of Mendenhall made some final upgrades to close 2018.
New LED lights have been installed at the Mendenhall Sportsplex near the new playground equipment and gazebo that were put in this year. Entergy and the city worked closely together to make this happen.
Mendenhall will host the city’s “Christmas In The Park” on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The event will include a visit with Santa, shopping with Santa’s Helpers for at least two toys from Toys for Tots, photo opportunity in the Toys for Tot Train, and a ride on the train through the Park.
The Mendenhall Mayor and Board of Aldermen held their regular meeting on December 4. There were several items on the agenda. The board accepted the resignation of Witt Fortenberry as the city’s public defender, and moved to employ Chris Purdum as his replacement. Purdum previously served as the city’s municipal judge.
