Keep Simpson County Beautiful recently received a large grant of 9 volt batteries from Keep America Beautiful. KSCB President Evelyn Copeland said that the batteries were for use in smoke detectors. Keep Mississippi Beautiful recently granted a trailer to Keep Simpson County Beautiful. The trailer will be used by KSCB organization for various beautification projects around the county. The trailer will come in handy when the group participates in the next Great American Clean Up.
Mendenhall High School senior quarterback Christian Allen has been named Mr. Football 2018 for Class 4A. Allen was recognized at an awards ceremony and banquet held on Thursday, November 29 at the Hattiesburg Convention Center along with the five other Mr. Football honorees from across the state. The Mr.
Runoff elections were held on November 27 and featured four races. Simpson County had a respectable turnout in terms of voter participation. Over 52 percent of the registered voters in the county participated in the election.
