I am excited that the SCCC Members Golf Association (MGA) is active again this year. The MGA has been a tremendous help in improving the quality of the golf course over the last two years. This group, led by Wayne Hilton, raise funds that go directly to golf course projects such as the recent paving of the cart path on Hole #9.
Among several items the MGA funded last year was tree trimming that allows more sun on the Bermuda grass so that it grows and spreads and reworking areas on the course to create better drainage. The MGA will be hosting several competitive tournaments again this year that are open to all local golfers.
There are great things going on at SCCC and more on the horizon. In my opinion, when this board’s term is completed, our success should be measured on our ability to develop and execute a strategic plan for Simpson County Country Club. Simply put, we need to answer the questions: Where are we going? How will we get there? A strategic plan will address the questions and serve as the roadmap with turn by turn instructions for reaching our destination, not only the upcoming year but for 3-5 years down the road.
We are always looking for new members. Stop by the clubhouse to meet Toney and learn more about our membership opportunities. Also, keep in mind we have a slate of tournaments that you are invited to participate in as a golfer or as a business sponsor. The MGA will also be announcing their tournaments with more details provided as they become available.
