November 24

Calvary M.B. Church (919 Johnson Lockhart Drive, Magee) invites everyone to their annual Family & Friends Day on Sunday, November 24. Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. and Morning Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Rev. E. Darnell Moffett is the pastor.

November 25

Magee Public Library will have  “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” for teens on November 25 at 4  p.m. For kids in the 9th-12th grade.

November 26

Calvary M. B. Church  (919 Johnson Lockhart Drive, Magee) invites everyone to a Pre-Thanksgiving Worship Service on Tuesday, November 26, at 7 p.m.  Guest preacher for the service will be Rev. Thomas McSwain of Old Hopewell Baptist Church, Collins, MS.

November 27

CMRLS Libraries will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 27, and remain closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; November 28, 29, & 30, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular library hours will resume on Monday, December 2. All online resources will be available at while your library is closed. Central Mississippi Regional Library System serves the public libraries of Rankin, Scott, Simpson, and Smith counties.

The USDA Service Center, which houses the Simpson County Farm Service Agency (FSA) and the Simpson County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) offices, located at 3080 Simpson Hwy. 13, Mendenhall, MS, will be CLOSED Thursday, November 28, for Thanksgiving Day.  The Service Center will re-open on Friday, November 29, at 8 a.m. 

December 1

Pastor Scotty Dailey and Galilee sisterhood invite you to their Hat program on December 1 at 2 p.m. Theme is “Women on the Move for Christ.” Speaker will be Sis. Vickie Lockett of New Mt. Zion in Puckett. First Lady Floria Richardson of Word of Truth in Hazlehurst and First Lady Melba Keyes of Pentecostal True Holiness Church of Mount Olive. December 3

The Mendenhall Christmas parade sponsored by the Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce will be held Tuesday, December 3, at 6 p.m.  This year the theme will be “Snowman’s Wonderland.”   Any businesses, church groups or individuals can participate. Floats will be judged on the theme of the parade. All entries must be lined up by 5:15 p.m. To enter, call the Chamber office at 601-847-1725 or 601-847-2525.

December 7

D’Lo will host its 26th annual Christmas Parade Saturday, December 7th. Line-up time is 3 p.m. with parade starting at 4 p.m. Theme is “Old Fashioned Christmas.”

Pine Grove MB Church is hosting a Family & Friends Day on Sunday, December 8, at 1:30 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Corey Walker from Taylor Hill MB Church in Braxton.

“Celebrate Recovery” meets every Thursday night at Overflow Church at 6 p.m., 222 Railroad Dr. SE Magee, MS 39111.

Grief Share meeting began at Overflow beginning October 1. It continues on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 222 Railroad Dr. SE Magee, MS 39111.

Morning prayer and afternoon luncheon is held every Thursday at Mt. Moriah Church. Prayer time is 11 a.m. until noon. Lunch and fellowship time is 12:15-1:15 p.m. Prayer and lunch are open to all people to get spiritually fed and natural food for the soul. Senior citizens, the needy and the homeless, come and bring a friend. Mt. Moriah Church is located at 160 Mt. Moriah Church Road, Magee.

The Books-n-Lunch Club meets at the Magee Library at 12:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss a book chosen for adult readers. New participants are welcome. Pick up or prepare a lunch item to share and join the group, or just visit. Call the library at 601-849-3747 for information.

The Simpson County Federation of Democratic Women meets at the E911 Building in Mendenhall the third Saturday of each month from 10-11 a.m.

American Legion Post 74 meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month. at the VFW, Hwy 49, Magee, at 6:30 p.m. Veterans and active duty service personnel welcome.

Lunch and Prayer is held every Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. at BridgePointe Church, 123 Choctaw Street E., Magee. Hosted by Genesis (a BridgePointe Ministry.)

Preschool story time is held at Mendenhall Public Library on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Bring your preschooler for stories, songs and crafts.The library offers many activities for children of all ages during the week and after school.
