February 25

Annual Usher’s Day will be held at Pleasant Grove CME Church, 577 Highway 541 South, Magee, on Sunday, Feb. 25, during the 11 a.m. church service. Pastor is Rev. Robert Hill.


A celebration of the 14 years of pastoral ministry of Pastor Kimble Windham and First Lady Minister Lisa Windham will be held at Hills Chapel M.B. Church, 1860 SCR 105, Louin. Pastoral Anniversary will be on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. with guest speaker Rev. Steve Edwards, pastor of Word of Faith, Montrose, along with his church family and at 2:30 p.m. with guest speaker Rev. Gary Moore, pastor of Greater Corinth M.B. Newton, along with his church family.


The Greater Dry Ridge Male Choir 19th Year Anniversary will be held at Greater Dry Ridge M.B. Church, Hwy 13 South, Mendenhall, on Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m. The theme is Luke 2:13-14.  Everyone is invited to attend.

March 1

The Republican Women of Simpson County will meet Thursday, March 1, at 11 a.m. in the E-911 Building in Mendenhall. Guests are welcome. For information call 601-953-2433.


March 2

Mendenhall’s Friday Nights on Main Kick-Off Party will be held on March 2 on Main Street beginning at 6 p.m. There will be antique cars and trucks, hot rods, race vehicles, motorcycles and plenty of food, drinks and entertainment for the whole family. Vendors are welcome. 55 South will be jamming on the Main Stage or enjoy some karaoke music by Party Tyme DJ Services on the south stage. Sponsored by Cooksey Builders Inc. Friday Nights on Main will be held the first Friday of every month.


March 3

A Wild Game Supper will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church located on Highway 35 between Mize and Mt. Olive, on Saturday, March 3, at 6 p.m. Fish, chicken, and  wild game will be served. There will be door prizes. The guest speaker will be Sam Caston. For more information call 601-733-9173.


A Pre-Appreciation Musical Program will be hosted by Higher Level Worship Center in honor of Pastor Rev. Dwight and First Lady Pearl Robinson on Saturday, March 3. This event will take place at Higher Level Worship Center beginning at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited.


A special brunch for First Lady Elmira Willis will be held on Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at Disciples of Christ Family Center in the Fellowship Hall. The dress for this occasion is denim. The first year anniversary of St. Mary Church’s Pastor Anthony Watts will be held on Sunday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Bernard Mitchell of Zion Hill M.B. Church, Mendenhall. Everyone is invited to attend.

The 15th Year Pastoral Anniversary Appreciation Service honoring Pastor E. Darnell and Dr. Allison Moffett is Sunday, March 4, at 2 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. O.D. Evans of New Hopewell Baptist Church, Collins.


The sixth year anniversary program for Oak Ridge M.B. Church’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Eric Dixson, Sr., will be held on March 4 at 1:30 p.m. Theme: “A servant called to spiritual services,” Matthew 28:19-20. The guest speaker will be Rev. Moses Johnson, pastor of the North Hill M.B. Church in New Hebron. Dress colors are black, purple and white.


March 5-7

"Calling All Youth," a three night Spring Youth Revival, will be held at New Zion M.B Church, Pinola, on March 5-7. Theme: "In the Days of Your Youth" Scripture: Ecclesiastes 12:1. Guest speaker Rev. Mark Johnson Sr., Fair Hill M.B. Church, Pelahatchie. Service will begin each night at 7:15.


March 8-10

Women with a Purpose Outreach Ministry Annual Conference

- “Developing My Ministry Conference.” The conference will convene March 8-10 at Mt. Zion Ora Missionary Baptist Church. The conference will open on Thursday night, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. with Host Pastor Kevin Youngblood, followed by Friday night, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Alfred Balthazar of Mt. Beulah Church and will close on Saturday, March 10, with sessions starting at 8 a.m. presented by Missionary Arline Brown (James Chapel Church of God in Christ), Minister Tommie Sean Matthews (Mt. Zion Ora MB Church), Bishop Carrie Crawford (After His Own Heart Ministries and Outreach) and a closing service with Bishop C. M. Lockhart of Anointed Word Ministries.

Married couples are invited to share in a Married Couples Seminar scheduled at Calvary M.B. Church, Magee, on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. until noon. The facilitator will be Dr. Stephen F. Mason of Greater Pearlie Grove M.B. Church, Jackson.

Pastor Rev. Dwight Robinson and First Lady Sister Pearl Robinson of Higher Level Worship Center, Jackson, will be honored for six years of service on Sunday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. James Roby, pastor of St. John M.B. Church, Utica. Everyone is invited.


The ninth anniversary of Pastor Dr. Robert West, Jr.  and First Lady Pia West will be celebrated at New Hymn M.B. Church, 458 Hollins Road, Pinola, on Sunday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m. Theme: “Honoring Our Pastor for the Noble Work that He is Doing” 1 Timothy 5:17. Zion Hill Baptist Church and the Relay 4 Life Ministry will have a Relay for Life Festival on May 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All groups and organizations that would like to participate contact Willie Rutherford at 601-832-7651. June 1-2

Magee High School Class of 1988 will celebrate their 30 year reunion on Friday, June 1, with a Meet and Greet at Magee High School from 6-7 p.m. and tour the old stomping ground and reminisce. A block party will be held at The Vault in Downtown Magee from 7-10 p.m. On Saturday, June 2, the 30 year class celebration will be held at Pretty Unique event venue, Hwy 18 W, Jackson, from 7 p.m. to midnight. The cost for the 2 day event is $150 per classmate and allows one guest. A deposit of $75 is due by March 12 and the final payment of $75 is due by April 2. A Bible study on the book of Revelations is being offered every Sunday night at 6 p.m. led by Pastor Bro. Donald Green at Fellowship Baptist Church, Hwy. 13 South, Mendenhall.


Morning prayer and afternoon luncheon is held every Thursday at Mt. Moriah Church. Prayer time is 11 a.m. until noon. Lunch and fellowship time is 12:15-1:15 p.m. Prayer and lunch is open to all people to get spiritually fed and natural food for the soul. Senior citizens, the needy and the homeless, come and bring a friend. Mt. Moriah Church is located at 160 Mt. Moriah Church Road, Magee.


The Books-n-Lunch Club meets at the Magee Library at 12:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss a book chosen for adult readers. New participants are welcome.
