Wade charged with kidnapping

Matthew Wade was arrested last Friday at approximately 4 p.m. after the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department received a call that he was holding two females and a small child against their will.

Sheriff Greg Reynolds said that the incident took place at 364 James Berry Road in Magee. The victims were attempting to leave the residence, but Wade blocked their vehicle. Reynolds said, “When we arrived on scene he had the people blocked in with his car and was armed with a hunting knife.”

Wade was taken into custody without incident and charged with kidnapping. He had his initial appearance before Judge Charles Savell on Monday, January 14, and his bond was set at $40,000.
