Persons of Interest Named in Homicide Investigation


An active homicide investigation is underway in Simpson County. A press release from the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department provides details of a shooting occurring Sunday morning shortly after midnight on R T Lake Road in Mendenhall. The shooting was reported, and deputies learned that a verbal altercation occurred at a house party on R T Lake Road involving Willie Davis. According to investigators, Davis left the party and walked to a vehicle parked at the intersection of Emmitt Brown and R T Lake Road. Investigators say as Davis and his party got into their vehicle they were approached by several individuals and Davis was severely beaten and then fired upon by one of the men.

Davis was eventually taken to a local hospital by family members where he succumbed to his injuries. The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating Ruben Mayes and his wife Amanda Warren as persons of interest in this case.
