Simpson County’s own Colonel Roy Terrell, a graduate of Mississippi State’s Class of 1953, was honored at the Mississippi State vs. Texas A & M game for service to his country. He served as a combat pilot and logged 450 hours of combat flight during the Vietnam War. Terrell, who achieved the rank of Full Colonel, logged 8,500 hours of flight time over his career. Terrell served as Base Commander at Keesler Air Force Base before retiring in 1981.
