Attention to our seniors in our community.  There is currently a scam going on in Simpson County.
The Mendenhall Chamber of Commerce hosted a Merry Mendenhall Christmas on December 6 in downtown Mendenhall. Stores on Main Street were open for Christmas Sales.
The big news that came from the city of Magee this week is they have taken delivery of a new firetruck. 
The Mendenhall Mayor and Board of Aldermen met on December 3 for their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss a proposal made by Steve Womack on behalf of Maintenance System Incorporated (MSI).


Ribbon Cutting Draws Large Crowd to School on Friday Morning!

Thanks to the hard work and persistance of the Simpson County School Board, the new Magee Elementary School held their ribbon cutting on Friday of last week at the new facility located on Goodwater Road in Magee.  Superintendent Greg Paes said the facility will serve the needs of approximately 750 students for the upcoming school year.   






New K-9 on job

The newest K-9 unit of the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, a bloodhound named Montana, made most recent aprehension on Sunday afternoon when she helped end a manhunt. 
The incident took place on Wilson Welch road at approximately 5 p.m. 



Magee wins Excellence Award for Public Works Efforts

One of the last official acts for Magee’s most recent administration was an award from the Mississippi Municipal Association during their annual convention held last week on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Included in the accomplishments was the re-surfacing of the tennis courts and walking tracks, new lighting at the McNair Springs and renovation




Log truck overturns on 43

At approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday, a log truck wrecked on Highway 43.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol the driver was traveling south on 43 when he swerved off the road and dipped into the ditch. The truck overturned when he attempted to correct it and landed horizontal blocking both lanes. 


M’Hall budget not finalized

The Mendenhall Mayor and Board of Aldermen met July 20 for a budget workshop. 
Budget workshops are a practice that Mayor Todd Booth said he wanted to bring back when he first took office. During the 2016 budget hearing many of the aldermen expressed how beneficial the work sessions can be.
