Funds from the $250,000 grant awarded by the state to the City of Magee should be available by the first of November, according to Mayor Dale Berry. 
Public schools opened for the 2019-2020 school year last week with 3,545 students enrolled, which is a 125 student increase over last year.

City sets new budget

The annual budget for the City of Magee was finalized  and approved for the next fiscal year on Tuesday.  
According to Mayor Dale Berry, the city now has a cash reserve of $806,000.  The budget for the new budget year is $7,093,036 compared to the current budget of $7,689,093.
