Home search leads to arrest of two

Interim Sheriff Greg Reynolds reports that on May 4,  deputies with the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the residence of Peggy and Wesley Thornton at 359 Albert Runnels Rd. During the search, deputies made contact with Wendell Counts, who was found in the basement of the residence. Further into the search deputies recovered approximately 7 ounces of alleged methamphetamine and 1 gram of alleged heroin. Wesley Thornton and Wendell Counts were both charged with possession of controlled substance, to wit, heroin and trafficking of a controlled substance, to wit, methamphetamine. Both subjects are currently being held in the Simpson County Jail on a $150,000 bond. This investigation is on-going and further arrests could be possible.
