Tuesday afternoon the threat of Covid-19 spread through Magee High and its students.
Superintendent Greg Paes confirmed that approximately 50 student football players as well as seven coaches are officially under quarantine. In addition the cheerleaders, approximately 15, are placed under quarantine.
A letter from Dr. Blake, principal, notified parents of along with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Mississippi State Department of Health. Blake outlined the symptoms as well as treatment for students in his letter.
The student and or coach was considered to be contagious on September 4. This was the same day of the football game last Friday. In addition to exposure to the team is First Baptist Church because athletes ate a meal in the Family Life Center on Friday.
The athletes from Collins may also be affected because they may have come into contact with the person who was diagnosed as being positive.
The students as well as faculty will be under quarantine for two weeks. This means the students and staff will not be able to attend school until September 21. Superintendent Greg Paes said the the quarantine and procedures follow the state’s guidelines in dealing with the pandemic.
