According to a recent post by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office they are aware of a murder and carjacking that occurred on Monday evening where a 2011 maroon Dodge Ram 1500 with a tan stripe, MS license plate SP14067 was taken in south Jackson near Old Byram Road. The victim was 62-year-old Anthony Watts of Simpson County, and he was shot multiple times.
The Jackson Police Department is currently investigating the incident. As of press time a description of the suspect has been publicly released by the Jackson Police Department as a white male. There is speculation that one of the four escapees from a recent escape at the Raymond Detention Center could possibly be responsible for the incident. The description matched that of 22-year-old Dylan Arrington.
The HCSO is still asking the public to call with any information regarding the whereabouts of any of the escapees and are asking the public to be on the lookout for the stolen truck being investigated by JPD. The occupants should be considered armed and dangerous. A photo of the stolen truck was provided by the victim’s family.
