Next time you are by the Magee Co-op you may want to stick your head in and see a familiar face, Mike Adcox.
Long time Simpson County resident Mike Adcox has returned home to become the General Manager of the co-op replacing a personal friend Ricky Byrd. Byrd has taken a position with the co-op in Seminary.
One of Mike’s primary goals is to turn back to making the customer experience the best possible and this occurred because of the pandemic. Mike said there was a shortage of help as well the way customer contact and how it could be handled. He said it was his goal to turn back time and make the customer experience just as good as possible.
Mike grew up in the Saratoga area with his parents Harold and Doris Adcox. He is 55 years old and has one son, Morgan who is serving in the Army in Washington State. After graduation Mike did a hitch in the Air Force and came back to work with the Magee Police Department.
From Magee Mike went on to be the Chief of Staff with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. He worked until he qualified for retirement. His experience in the military along with law enforcement allowed him to hone his organizational skills as well as working with others and that was one of the benefits he is able to bring to the coop.
If you have not visited the Co-op it is a members owned business that caters to small communities. In addition to feed and seed you will find most any type of agriculture supplies you may need to maintain your backyard garden up to a full fledged farm Adcox said we have what you need.
In addition they offer a complete line of tires for the farm or passenger vehicles either for the consumer or business. In addition to plants you can find quality name brand clothing like Drake as well Muck and other name brands associated with quality and durability.
They have a full service fuel station to offer the community. So it is does matter whether the need is large or small Adcox said, “ We arethere to meet the customer needs.” He said that Ricky Byrd, the former manager, had been very helpful in a smooth transition for him and it made it much easier for him to assume the reigns.
Despite the fact that shipping both through rail and truck has slowed their business a bit Mike said, “It is our intention of serving our customers in a prompt and satisfactory manner.” The Co-op is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on noon on Thursdays and Saturdays.
