Magee Police Chief Randy Crawford released a statement detailing a high speed chase on April 9, at approximately 5:06 p.m. MPD Captain Chris Jones attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations. The vehicle failed to stop and then fled from Jones at high speeds. The chase led Magee Police Officers into the county and eventually crossed in Jefferson Davis County where the subject hit a ditch and disabled the vehicle.
According to Crawford the driver then attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended following a brief chase. There was also a passenger in the car. Officer Mike Davis, Lin Easterling, and Billy Seghini arrived and took the passenger into custody. The vehicle was stolen from Bay St. Louis and also contained a large amount of alleged methamphetamine. The driver was later identified as 34 year old Havard McDonald, and the passenger was 33 year old Santana Keyes. McDonald was arrested and charged with felony fleeing, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Keyes was charged with possession of methamphetamine and a stolen vehicle. Both McDonald and Keyes were found to be out on felony bond for prior charges.
Crawford thanked the Simpson County Sheriff Department, Jeff Davis Sheriff Department, and Mississippi Highway Patrol for the assistance in the apprehension of the suspects.
