A local business owner has been appointed to serve on the Medical Care Advisory Committee by Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann.
Benny Hubbard, co-owner of Advanced Care Health Management, was appointed August 19 to the 11-member board that advises the Division of Medicaid about health and medical care services in the state.
Hosemann said, “The Medical Care Advisory Committee is required by law to advise the Mississippi Division of Medicaid on issues related to healthcare and medical services in our state. This Committee has significant impact into the Medicaid reimbursement model and all other Medicaid issues. Bennie brings years of healthcare expertise to this important committee and will be an asset as he serves in this capacity.”
The board consists of five appointees from the Governor, three from the Lieutenant Governor and three from the Speaker of the House. They will serve concurrent terms with the existing elected leadership of the state.
Their responsibility is to provide an annual written evaluation as to improved healthcare for the citizens in regard to Medicaid and services to all Mississippi residents.
Additionally the committee will be required to meet at least quarterly.
Hubbard said, “It is my goal through this appointment to provide rural healthcare as well as long term healthcare to the citizens of the State of Mississippi.
In addition to operating his own business, Hubbard also serves as chairman of the board to Magee General Hospital.
