Sheriff Paul Mullins confirmed that a shooting took place on Old Tower Road in Magee at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 22.
Mullins said when deputies arrived they found a deceased subject lying in the bushes outside of a vehicle on the northern side of Old Tower Road. The victim has been identified as Patrick Hubbard II. Mullins said the incident is being treated as a homicide.
The vehicle is being processed by the crime lab for evidence. Investigators were able to develop a person of interest who has been identified as Jordan Jamal Brinson. According to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, the 20-year-old Brinson is approximately 5’8 tall and weighs approximately 260 pounds. Brinson was involved in another incident in Magee on April 23, 2020, that resulted in two victims being shot. No arrest was reported in this case, but Brinson was placed on the NCIC as a wanted person.
He was previously arrested in November 2019 by the Magee Police Department for two counts of aggravated assault and one count of grand larceny of a motor vehicle. He was indicted by a grand jury in March.
