The Magee Trojans dominated the Collins Tigers from wire to wire last Friday during the season opener at home. The final score was 34-0 and the Tigers were helpless to stop the Trojans on either side of the ball.
Magee was led by their big three on offense--Chandler Pittman, Cayden Bridges, and Xavier Franks. Pittman scored the first points of the game on a 4-yard run near the goal line. Bridges followed with a 7-yard reception from Pittman that gave the Trojans a 15-0 lead.
The Trojans continued to pour it on and Bridges scored his second touchdown of the game on a 23-yard reception from Pittman. Xavier Franks boosted the Trojans’ lead with a 39 yard TD reception. This gave the Trojans a 28-0 lead going into halftime. The Trojans coasted to victory from there.
Pittman finished the game completing 13 of 21 pass attempts for 208 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also led all rushers with 65 yards and a touchdown.
Franks was as spectacular as ever. He led all receivers with 121 yards on six receptions with two touchdowns. Bridges finished with four receptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively the Trojans were led by Jody Durr, who notched 10 total tackles, two for a loss, and a blocked punt. Senior linebacker Emanuel Thurman finished with 10 tackles, and Cameron Floyd ended the game with 9.
The Trojans are off to a fast start and will travel to Natchez to face the Bulldogs this Friday.
