Effective today, April 2 the Solid Waste Department at the chancery court building in Mendenhall will no longer be open for foot traffic. The phone for solid waste is 601-847-7000. Payments can be accepted through the mail as well as on-line.
This follows suit with the Simpson County Tax Assessor’s Office which has closed to foot traffic for items like automobile tags. If you have county business you may contact the assessors office at 601-847-1704.
The D’Lo Water Park will also close to activities at the park as per Governor Tate Reeve’s executive order. They will however have live bait available currently and will sell the existing stock of bait. The park itself is closed with the exception of the walking track.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections has ordered that all inmates may no longer support county government. This means there will be job vacancies to work on garbage trucks as a “hopper” loading and unloading trucks. The rate of pay is $10 per hour. Applications are available through the county administrator’s office who can be reached at 601-847-1418. Those applications are also available through the county’s web-site.
