Keep Mendenhall Beautiful President Latasha Millis recently attended a national conference in San Diego California where she accepted the national Innovation Award from Keep America Beautiful.
Keep Mendenhall Beautiful was one of two organizations from Mississippi to receive national honors. The Innovation Award was received for thinking outside of the box and planning creative clean up events.
Keep Mendenhall Beautiful coordinated a statewide cleanup with the help of the Mount Olive Wagon Train, Smith County Wagon Train, Miss Lou Wagon Train, Leaf River Wagon Train, Philadelphia Wagon Train, North Ride Wagon Train, Wesson Wagon Train, and Gulf Coast Wagon Train.
Keep Mississippi Beautiful provided all of the trash bags for the cleanup event. The collective was able to clean up trash in communities around the state to help keep Mississippi beautiful.
Millis said, “It was quite the honor to be thought of and to win on the national stage with over 1,000 applications being submitted. I want to thank all of our members and volunteers for their efforts in helping with the statewide clean up.”
Millis said the wagon train group will have a ride on April 27 where she will present all of the wagon trains with plaques for their participation.
