The Mendenhall Lady Tigers are moving on to the next round after back-to-back statement wins over Columbia. The Lady Tigers dropped the first game of the series at home 6-2 where they struggled at the plate. The Tigers recorded only one hit in the game and took a while to settle in on defense.
With their backs against the wall in an elimination game at Columbia the Lady Tigers showed their mettle. In the words of Head Coach Christie Byther “We got on our sticks!” The Lady Tigers recorded 11 hits leading to a 7-5 win. They were led by Tatum Berry who went 3 of 4 with two doubles and 3 RBIs. Kimora Bouldin was the winning pitcher, only allowing three hits by Columbia.
This set up a final showdown between the two teams on Monday April 22. The Lady Tigers were the home team and left no doubt beating Columbia 14-4 to advance to the next round. It was a dominant performance by the team giving them some much needed momentum heading into their matchup against Poplarville.
The Lady Tigers will face Poplarville in Poplarville this Friday and will play the second game at home on Saturday. If necessary, a third game will be played at Poplarville the following Monday. All games will be played at 6 p.m.
