After a thorough interviewing process, the Simpson County School District announced Dr. Paul Lawrence as the new Superintendent of Education. Dr. Lawrence is a native of Terry MS, and has served as principal of Magee Elementary School for the past 8 years. Within two years of taking over Magee Elementary Dr. Lawrence was able to raise the school’s rating from an “F” to a “B”. Lawrence will be replacing Dr. Toriano Holloway officially on July 1.
Lawrence said, “I am excited. This is a new role to serve the boys and girls of Simpson County. This is my passion and our plan is to get it where every school is Simpson County is where you want your child to be. You can put your child in kindergarten, and there is no other place you want your child to be for the next 12 years for their education.”
Dr. Lawrence said he is committed to providing every student with a high quality education in a safe environment.
He said, “We will give our students a safe environment that challenges them and provides them with everything they will need for years to come. We love these kids and respect and love each other because we’re a family.
Dr. Lawrence plans to implement the same three values that he used as an elementary principal. This is for students to be respectful, responsible, and ready as the new school year fast approaches.
