The Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration organized by Terrence Logan was held in Magee recently at Marvin Jackson Park. Logan said the celebration was in remembrance of the last slaves that were freed in Galveston TX in June of 1865 also known as “Juneteenth”. The celebration was a family friendly event that featured live music, food, and games for the children as they learned about the history of the holiday. Logan plans to continue and grow the celebration in honor of what the holiday means.
Sponsors for the event were: Pitt Sims Transportation, Armadillo Defense Security, Karla Jones, Paul’s Corner, Coach Mei, Bridge Pointe Church, Rev John Lockett, Sedric Durr, Drip University, AKA Sorority, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
