“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” —Dr. Martin Luther King.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Rho Iota Zeta Chapter, Mendenhall, and their youth auxiliaries honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in “A Day Of Service” recently. The Zetas participated in a highway clean up, collected toiletry and cleaning items for Angel Wings Outreach Center, collected peanut butter and jelly and donated money to the Brumfield House Homeless Shelter and raked leaves throughout the community.
Chapter President Sandrena Lofton said, “RIZ is always serving, but today, we give tribute to Dr. King and his dedication to serving others. Today RIZ did highway cleanup, collected toiletries and cleaning supplies for Angel Wings, collected peanut butter and jelly for Stewpot, and a monetary donation to the Brumfield House Homeless Shelter. RIZ in 1999 adopted the motto “Service is What We Do” and this is what we continue to do. Not just today, but every day. I love my chapter!”
