The Magee Trojans Baseball Team is headed to the South State Championship after sweeping the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers in a best of three series.
The first game of the series was an 8 inning nail biter, thanks to both teams playing outstanding defense. Adam May was the starting pitcher for the Trojans and only allowed a single hit through 8 innings and struck out 12 batters. The Trojans finally broke through in the bottom of the 8th. Brennon McNair found the gap with his bat to drive in the game winning run.
The second game of the series was a runaway victory for the Trojans. They scored 8 runs in the second inning and scored 7 runs in the fourth inning. The bats were on fire for the Trojans as the team tallied 16 hits for the game.
Brennon McNair recorded a single, double, and home run with four at bats to lead the Trojans to victory. McNair was also the winning pitcher. He pitched five innings striking out 6 batters.
The Trojans will face the Clarkdale Bulldogs of Meridian MS for the South State Championship. Neither team has lost a game in the playoffs. The first game of the series will be held at Magee on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.
