A Magee man was arrested after police responded to a report of a male with a firearm involved in suspicious activity at Park Place Apartments, authorities said. According to Magee Police Chief Denis J. Borges, officers arrested Cameron Floyd around 10:24 a.m. on July 21 for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, with a firearm enhancement, and for concealing a firearm without a holster. Floyd is currently under indictment for another felony, and as a result, his bond was revoked. He was transferred to the Simpson County Jail and will await his initial trial.
“All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” Borges said in a statement. He commended the department’s patrol and investigation divisions for their efforts, adding, “Some say the little things don’t matter. I disagree. A tiny crack in your windshield might seem harmless at first but left alone it spiderwebs into something far costlier.”
Floyd’s arrest remains under investigation.
