Four arrested for armed robbery

The Simpson County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident on February 13 that led to the arrest of four suspects.
Dakarri Lee, Cameron Floyd, Alvonte Brown, and Kantada Rogers were arrested and charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, kidnapping, grand larceny, and possession of a controlled substance with a firearm.

Tigers win home opener over Raleigh 17-5

The Mendenhall Tigers won their home opener against Raleigh 17-5 thanks to a stellar pitching performance from Parker Eichwurtzle and an offensive onslaught at the plate. The Tigers recorded 12 hits and 5 stolen bases to run rule the Lions in the fifth inning. Eichwurtzle pitched four innings striking out 6 batters.

Broadband may expand

County IT Director Charlie Welch recently updated the Board of Supervisors on the BEAM broadband expansion efforts in the county.
Welch said there is an opportunity to get broadband expansion in Simpson County. He said some areas are unserved and some have broadband capabilities that do not meet public guidelines.
