The 15th annual Mendenhall in May celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 18. Mendenhall in May proves to be bigger and better each year. The event will feature local entertainment throughout the day. The highly successful crawfish boil will be featured again this year, and there will also be a petting zoo and car show.
Another popular activity is the BBQ cook off, which returns this year. There will be a $100 entry fee to participate, and the winner of the competition will receive a $500 cash prize. Second and third place winners will receive $300 and $200 cash prizes. Competitors will be judged on their ability to cook St. Louis style ribs.
The Mayoral Health Council will be hosting a 5k run/walk starting at 7:30 a.m. The race will begin at the Simpson County Courthouse and follow a designated route.
There will also be arts and crafts, a Kid’s Zone, and plenty of food. Mendenhall in May has always been jam packed with vendors who sell a large variety of items.
