Update on Boomer

Shane Givens notified the newspaper last week that he was not ready to give up on finding who shot and killed his family pet, Boomer. There have been no leads in the case so the original $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person who was responsible for shooting his dog has been raised to $4,000.

DA announces criminal convictions

County weighs options for costly road repairs

When it comes to road repairs in Simpson County the county seems to be getting further and further behind.
At their March 5 meeting, the Simpson County Board of Supervisors was informed that the county’s cold mix asphalt repair bill for county roads in February 2018 was $67,000 compared to $26,000 for the same month last year.

Searching for just the right pumpkin on a beautiful day

Pumpkins in the Park was a huge success. The Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce, Stubbs Law Firm, Booth Discount Tires, and McGuffee Drugs helped sponsor the annual event for the community. Over 500 citizens attended, and approximately 200 pumpkins were given to children to decorate.
