The Nation's Weather for Saturday, January 7, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
The next atmospheric river will slam into Northern
California tomorrow, with a renewed threat of
life-threatening flooding, mudslides and washouts. Snow
levels will again be quite high, but heavy snow will fall
above 7,000 feet. Rain and mountain snow will also impact
Washington and Oregon, although precipitation should not be
quite as heavy as farther to the south. A broad swath of
rain will expand across the Tennessee Valley and southern
Ohio Valley. The air may just be cold enough for snow to mix
with the rain on the far northern fringe of the
precipitation in central Indiana, central Ohio and in the
mountains in West Virginia. Farther south, thunderstorms
could be strong in parts of southeastern Texas. The most
intense storms may bring flash flooding and damaging winds.
