On January 8, shortly after 7 p.m., Simpson County Sheriff’s Department received an additional report of a driver being blue lighted in the Harrisville area on Highway 469.
The motorist called E911, activated emergency flashers and followed dispatcher’s instructions to keep driving the current course. The suspected officer impersonator turned off shortly thereafter.
The SO has not received any further reports as of press time, and any tips may be made directly to the sheriff’s office at 601-847-2921 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.
The department still asks that if any motorists are blue lighted by a suspicious unmarked vehicle, please activate flashers and call 911. Dispatchers will then confirm whether or not the patrol car is real or an impersonator and will give the driver instructions accordingly.
