Mendenhall Police Chief Candy McCullum reported that the department received a call last Saturday at 4:02 p.m. regarding an accident on Highway 49 and Highway 540 intersection, a wreck involving two vehicles a pick-up truck, and a motorcycle.
He said the truck was crossing over the southbound lane on Hwy. 49 when it collided with the motorcycle.
The motorcycle was registered in Alabama and was being driven by Cynthia Magee. The Simpson County Sheriff Department assisted in the accident providing traffic support.
A helicopter was landed on Highway 49 and Magee was airlifted to the University Medical Center.
McCullum confirmed that Magee died in route to the hospital. The name of the other driver has yet to be released. McCullum said the accident is still under investigation at this time.
