Magee General Hospital has multiple measures in place to ensure the safety of all patients and urges members of the community not to neglect their care and safety in the event an emergency arises.
Across the country, patients experiencing life threatening problems such as heart attacks and strokes are avoiding going to the emergency room or calling first responders out of fear of catching COVID-19.
“It is very important that anyone experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, stroke or other life-threatening condition visit the Emergency Department as soon as possible,” said hospital spokesperson Pam Wallace, “Putting off care for these conditions is not an option.”
While there are a number of positive COVID-19 cases in Simpson County, there have been zero cases of healthcare-acquired COVID-19 and Magee General Hospital currently has plenty of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to keep both patients and healthcare workers safe in the event of an emergency.
Magee General Hospital is preventing visitors from entering the hospital, and all patients and staff members are screened upon entering for symptoms of COVID-19.
