Restaurateur, businessman and Mendenhall native Charles Fred Morgan, Jr., died last week at age 87.
Services were held at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel in Mendenhall on Sunday, August 13.
When Morgan and his wife Nattilie purchased the Revolving Tables Restaurant in Mendenhall in 1998, they became the third generation of the family to own and manage the famous restaurant at the Mendenhall Hotel, where he grew up.
The restaurant opened in 1915 and was purchased by his parents, L’Marie and Fred Morgan, Sr., in 1948. The Revolving Tables was featured in many newspapers and magazines, including Southern Living, and on a Thanksgiving segment on the CBS Morning Show.
After service in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, Morgan’s career included Lederle Pharmaceutical sales, Morrison’s Food Service training, civil service and Coldwell Banker as a Realtor.
He was a member of GCMA Alumni Association, University of Mississippi Alumni Association, the Mendenhall Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Restaurant Association.
He is survived by his wife Nattilie; daughters Liz (Steve) Smith of Texas and Melinda (David) Carruth of Florida; son, Charles Fred Morgan III of Illinois; grandchildren, Chance and Forrest Morgan; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Bette Morgan of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
