Donna Lucille Callender Temple
Donna Lucille Callender Temple passed on August 30, 2017, at age 60.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Fred Temple; mother, Carolyn Baley Callender; children, Stephanie Temple Bullock (Chaston), Timothy Lee Temple (Jaime), and Matthew Christopher Temple (Courtney); siblings, Carolyn Callender Mahaffey and Sylvia Callender Barrett. Donna and Fred were blessed with 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Carley Callender. Donna was born on February 1, 1957. She graduated from Rankin Academy in 1974 and was married to Fred on August 31, 1976.
Donna recently retired from MDOT after 14 years of service.
Thomas Hester
Hazlehurst
Thomas Hester, 84, passed away on August 29, 2017. He was born on April 20, 1933, to Glenn Hester and Lizzie (Butler) Hester.
Thomas is survived by two sons, Thomas James Hester and Mike Moody; five daughters, Annette, Deborah, Patricia Ellen, Lisa Myles, Lyn Moody; brother, Jerry Hester; sisters, Betty Best, Hazel Shaw, Pauline Scoggin; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 2, 2017, from 1-3 p.m. Services immediately followed at 3 p.m. in Tutor Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Tyson Windom officiated. Interment was in the Providence Cemetery in Mize.
Herbert L. King
Herbert L. King, 82, passed away August 30, 2017. He was born on January 17, 1935, to Hugh King and Violet (Geseman) King.
Herbert is survived by his son, John W. King; daughter, Lorie King; sister, Annette Rushing and one grandchild, Dusty King.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Flanagan) King, and brother-in-law, Jessie Rushing.
Visitation for friends was held on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall. Services were on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel in Mendenhall at 10 a.m. with Bro. Roger Lee and Bro. Rodney Anderson officiating. Final resting place was in King Family Cemetery.
Jewel Moore Sojourner

Jewel Moore Sojourner, 77, of Puckett passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee.
Visitation was held Friday, September 1, 2017, from 12:30-1 p.m.at Colonial Chapel in Mendenhall.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 1, 2017, at 1 p.m.at Colonial Chapel in Mendenhall, Burial followed in Puckett City Cemetery in Puckett.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom Preston and Lona Bell Moore; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Lay (David); and sister, Eunice Bryant (R.C.), Mobile.
James Hugh Lack
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 201,7 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Mize for James Hugh Lack, 89, of Collins, who passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the Covington County Nursing Center.
Reverend Joe Gardner, Reverend Joey McLeod, and Reverend Richard Wiman officiated at the services with interment following in the Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mize. Special music was provided by Mrs. Priscilla Magee, Mrs. Maria McLeod, and Reverend Joey McLeod. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins was in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation was held from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Lack was born on May 2, 1928, in Mize, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Lack was a graduate of Jones County Junior College. He retired from Entergy Power Corporation after 30 plus years of service as an operator. Mr. Lack was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilborn Moses Lack and Amy Estelle McCallum Lack; one sister, Mary Willene Lack; and five brothers, and two sisters-in-law, Charles Randell Lack and his wife Dora, Wendell Douglas Lack, Dennis Ray Lack, Wilborn Moses Lack and his wife Eunice, and Mack Carter Lack.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Jo Harvey Lack of Collins; one son, Doug Lack and his wife Peggy of Collins; two daughters, Rhonda Lack Grubbs and her husband Mike of Magee, and Allison Lack Jowers of Vidalia, Louisiana; one sister, Jean Ann Griffing and her husband Clayton of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Lack and Dell Lack; seven grandchildren, Tara Robinson, Tayler Whittaker, John Reed Robinson, Stephen Lack (Anna Catherine), Kendal McCann (Justin), Anna Claire Jowers, and Madison Grubbs; five great-grandchildren, Carson James Whittaker, Peyton Blakely Harlow, Reese Ashlan Harlow, Jaxon Grubbs, and Sadie Felder; and a host of other family members and friends.
