Funeral services for Ms. Samantha Keyes, 40, Mount Olive/Magee, were held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at11a.m. from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Olive. Interment was in the Dry Ridge Church Cemetery, Mize. Pastor Jeremiah Keyes officiated the service. Reeves Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Olive, was in charge of the arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Jamal Blackwell, Javell McGee, Marcus Thompson, Eddie Ray Blackwell, Jermaine Keyes, and Edward Hill.
Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Keyes, Treyvon Keyes, Tristian Keyes, and Jerrick Peterson, Jr.
Flower bearers were family and friends.
Ms. Keyes attended and graduated from Mize High School in in 1997. She also attended Jones Junior College, where she received as associate degree in the Social Worker Program. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with bachelor’s and master's degrees in family relations/ marriage and family therapy studies along with child and family studies/social work. She enjoyed working in the field of social work.
She was a member of Pentecostal True Holiness Church, where she was a lead singer in the choir. She also acted as the church secretary and custodian of the church. She was an active member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond Keyes and Bobbie Blackwell; Pinkie Sue Keyes and Tecy Keyes.
Survivors include her parents, Houston and Melba Keyes, Mt. Olive; brother, Joshua (Tanya) Keyes, Santana (Jerrick) Peterson, Mt. Olive; 10 aunts, 4 uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
