The word “Marxist” has become a general purpose epithet. The president says judges who disagree with him are “Marxist.” The speaker of the house applies the label to the entire Democratic Party. Neither of them appears to have the slightest idea what the term really means.
Ironically, it is the total absence of true Marxists on the American political scene that allows them to make these laughable misrepresentations. Because there are none, the general public has no idea what the term really signifies. So a politician can use the term for whatever the politician does not like.

No one is winning. Workers are missing paychecks, small businesses face uncertainty, air traffic control slows, and safety net programs that truly needy families depend on grind to a halt. While there’s plenty of finger-pointing, Mississippians deserve to know what really caused this and what’s at stake.

I don’t know who said it first, but the Mississippi River is flooding more often, longer, and higher for the same or less rain. There are many reasons for this. But the main one is the US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). It is in charge of flood control on the lower Mississippi River (below Cairo, Illinois). Congress gave it that job after the great 1927 flood disaster — to prevent a repeat.

The Mississippi superintendent of education made a good point when he told a state Senate committee that it should address school choice legislation and teacher pay raises in separate proposals.
State Superintendent Dr. Lance Evans, along with a few district superintendents, spoke to the Senate Education Committee on Oct. 28. According to the Magnolia Tribune website, most of the officials had concerns about school choice and urged lawmakers to keep raising teacher pay.
