Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee recently sponsored a parade to cheer up residents during their COVID-19 quarantine. Currently, like nursing home across the country, Hillcrest has implemented a no visitors policy to protect residents.
The staff decorated the outside of the building and created bouquets made of streamer paper and ribbon for the residents to waive. The residents were spread out on either end of the nursing home, to see their families while still maintaining social distancing. Many family and community members turned out for the drive-by parade, including the Magee Fire Department and Magee PD.
Participants decorated their vehicles with signs, balloons and streamers, and some even threw out candy to residents. Many family members expressed thanks to the workers at Hillcrest for allowing them to see their family and boosting morale.
