Perry and Janella Lee of Mendenhall have not one but two granddaughters who have been selected as Division 1 College cheerleaders.
Bella Broadhead, daughter of Bill and Amanda Lee Broadhead, is a freshman cheerleader at the University of Southern Mississippi. Bella graduated from Simpson Academy in 2023. Annlee Grayson, daughter of Chad and Lenora Lee Grayson, is a freshman cheerleader at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Vir. Annlee is from Oak Ridge, N.C. and graduated from Northwest Guilford High School in 2023. Both of the Lees’ granddaughters have been involved with cheerleading since their early years.
Bella cheered at Simpson Academy from 4th-12th grade as a peewee cheerleader, junior high cheerleader, and varsity cheerleader. She is a two-time UCA All-American cheerleader and a two-time recipient of the UCA Pin it Forward Leadership award. Bella has participated in the Jump Off competition for many years and was a Jump Off finalist at Ole Miss’ UCA camp. Bella and her All-American teammates performed in the Varsity Spirit All-American Thanksgiving Tour in Orlando her freshman year.
She has mentored and taught many of the younger cheerleaders at SCA through the years, assisting with mini camps and Cougarettes, and served as Upward cheerleading coach at FBC Mendenhall. She also received the student body award for Best School Spirit at SCA as a sophomore and a junior. Bella was chosen as a Southern Miss cheerleader and has been a part of the All-Girl squad & the Co-Ed squad.
Annlee has been involved in cheerleading since the age of 6, being active in All Star cheer as well as school cheer. She was a member of the 4x State Championship Northwest Guilford Vikings cheer team in Greensboro, N.C. The Vikings also won the Carolina Cup, the highest scoring team out of all divisions in North Carolina.
Annlee was also named a UCA All American cheerleader. In All Star, Annlee most recently cheered on Cheer Extreme C4 and O5, winning the title of Medium Senior Co-Ed Level 4 2022 Summit Champions with C4 Bombsquad. Annlee was recruited and signed with the D1 Liberty Flames All Girl Cheerleading Team for 2023.
