The Mendenhall Lady Tigers defeated the Ridgeland Titans 8-2 to advance to a 3-3 record. The Lady Tigers recorded 7 hits and 3 RBIs in route to victory. It was the Tigers defense that showed through on the day with Kimora Bouldin pitching 7 innings and only allowing 2 runs. The Tigers posted a perfect fielding percentage led by Allie and Maddie Brewer and Tyonna Coleman with 21 total chances leading to 21 put outs. The Tigers remain perfect at home with two games remaining before they begin district play.
Head Coach Christie Byther said, “We played hard, and we got on our sticks. We are 3-3-1 and we begin district play during spring break.”
Coach Tim Catchings said, “We played tremendous defense, and we held them off through the whole game. Our bats finally woke up late in the fifth and I praised the girls for having a tremendous battle. We’re going to be a real good hitting team by the time we get to district and if we pick up on the bats we’ll be a hard team to beat.”
The Lady Tigers will play McLaurin and Jefferson Davis County this week before opening district play on March 19.
