The Mendenhall Tigers clinched their district championship last Friday with a 27-7 victory over Northeast Jones. Tayton James led the team, completing 12 of 20 pass attempts for 121 yards, a touchdown and an interception. James was also the leading rusher with 123 yards on 17 carries. Jay Ulmer led the backfield with 8 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
Chris Davis notched four receptions for 49 yards in the Tigers’ win, and Marcus Allen finished with two catches for 30 yards and a touchdown.
The defense was led by Davin Chung with 25 tackles, 3 for a loss, and a sack. Markquise King followed with 15 tackles, 2 for a loss, and 2 sacks. It was another dominant performance for the Tigers, and they were able to rest some starters in preparation for the playoff push ahead.
The Tigers will face Lanier this Friday at home in the first round of the playoffs.
