The Magee Trojans put on a spectacular performance last Friday as they fought their way back to .500 with a 42-7 win over the Collins Tigers.
The Trojans played well in every aspect of the game, starting up front with an offensive line that was in sync and protected quarterback Tristan Newsome well, while also opening running lanes for their ball carriers. They put on an offensive clinic.
Newsome was able to find his receivers deep down field for several explosive plays. This included a 50-yard bomb to Kyerston Tucker taken in for a touchdown that set the tone early in the game that the Trojans dominated after two disappointing losses.
Running back Braeden Gregory was effective on the ground all night. Gregory found the endzone early in the third quarter, extending the Trojans’ lead to 20-7 as they found their stride. The game was not even close, and the Trojans played complimentary football throughout the night. Defensively they controlled the line ofscrimmage and made several big plays in the secondary.
The Trojans will build on their momentum this Friday against the Yazoo City Indians for Homecoming.
