Two individuals were taken into custody last week after leading Simpson County deputies on a high-speed chase that began in Braxton and tore through residential streets in D’Lo before ending on Highway 540.
According to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, Desaray Louis was driving a vehicle with Kameron Clemons as a passenger when the pair approached a safety checkpoint in Braxton. As deputies neared the vehicle, Louis allegedly accelerated away at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit.
Deputies followed Louis into the town of D’Lo, where the vehicle sped through residential neighborhoods. The chase continued onto Gum Springs Road, with speeds reportedly exceeding 100 miles per hour, creating a dangerous situation for both law enforcement and the community.
The pursuit came to an end on Highway 540 when Louis attempted to turn into a driveway. Deputies quickly boxed in the vehicle, bringing it to a stop and taking both suspects into custody.
Clemons was charged with felony fleeing. Louis—who was already out on bond for embezzlement charges—now faces additional charges of felony fleeing and aggravated assault after allegedly ramming a deputy’s vehicle during the chase.
Both individuals are awaiting their initial court appearances. The incident remains under investigation by the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office.
