Co-Lin to honor Pace, Fuller

John W. Pace of Hattiesburg and Barbara Dale Welch Fuller of Mendenhall will be honored as Alumni of the Year at Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 27, during the Alumni Association’s awards luncheon and annual meeting at 11 a.m. in the cafeteria on the college’s Wesson Campus.


Home invasion thwarted


The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call that came in at 5:30 a.m., Thursday, August 23.

 The incident was described by investigator Leon Wedgeworth as a home invasion that occurred at a residence on Van Zandt Road in Braxton.


School board delays election

After years of complying with restrictive hiring practices, the Simpson County School Board has issued payment to the law firm of Adams and Reese in conjunction with settlement of the court ordered consent decree from which the county has finally been released. 


Trojans advance

The Magee Trojans cruised through the first round as they faced off against the Hazlehurst Indians. In a best 2 out of 3 series, the Trojans would win back-to-back games to advance in the playoffs. The first game was held at home. Timon Kennedy was the starting pitcher. It was evident from the first inning that Hazlehurst was overmatched.

Sarah Runnels

Sarah Runnels, 70, of Magee, passed from this life Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. Burial will be in McNair Cemetery.

Billy Ray Greer

On Tuesday, February 6, 2018, Billy Ray Greer of Mendenhall, MS passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 86; surrounded by many family members and friends.

Billy Mitchell Barlow, 66, of Brandon died Saturday April 7, 2018 at Home. He was born Saturday, September 8, 1951.
