Simpson County Ag Appreciation Day will be held on Friday, May 17, at the Simpson County Tech Center from 4-7 p.m.  Included are information on farm safety and a petting zoo.  Ribeye steak sandwiches with chips, drink and dessert will be sold.  The event is sponsored by SCTC FFA/MSU Extension Office.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, Magee. Services followed at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in Jones Family Cemetery.


Pamela Grace Bankston

Pamela Grace Bankston, 54, of Mendenhall, passed from this life to her heavenly life on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at her home in Mendenhall. She was born Wednesday, July 8, 1964.

Visitation were held on Monday, April 22, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church in Mendenhall.


Lee Charles Magee

Lee Charles Magee departed this life on April 20 in Puckett. Services were May 4 at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Magee. Public viewing was May 3. Final resting home is Shiloh M.B. Church Cemetery in D’Lo. Services and arrangements entrusted to Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home, Magee.

Frank L. Wilson, 79, of Mendenhall,  passed away Wednesday at Select Specialty in Jackson.

Visitation was held Saturday, April 27, 2019, from at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, Magee.  Funeral services were at 4 p.m. that day at the funeral home.

Christopher Leo Luckey, 59, of Magee, passed from this life Friday, April 19, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.

Michelle Barr Wilfong, 67, of Magee, passed from this life on Sunday April 14, 2019.

Justice Court and Municipal Judge Eugene Knight Resigns

Municipal Judge of Magee Eugene Knight turned in his resignation letter on June 21. Mayor Dale Berry confirmed that Knight’s resignation will become effective June 30. Knight has served as Magee’s municipal judge since May of 2003.Berry said, “There are no improprieties in the City of Magee concerning Judge Knight.

After years of complying with restrictive hiring practices, the Simpson County School Board has issued payment to the law firm of Adams and Reese in conjunction with settlement of the court ordered consent decree from which the county has finally been released.
