Lee throws out first pitch

Magee High School graduate Cynahmon Lee was selected to throw out the first pitch for the home opener baseball game for the University of Southern Mississippi. Cynahmon earned her selection by being voted to represent the Student Eagle Club. GO TROJANS!






Simpson Students visit Capital

– On Tuesday morning, the fourth grade class of Simpson County Academy took a field trip to the Mississippi State Capitol get an up close look of the legislative process in action.  The group met with the Simpson County delegation, Representative Price Wallace and Senator Chris Caughman, while on their tour.

Joe Garner, Sr. 75, of Raleigh, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020. He was born Tuesday, July 25, 1944.

Fred Milling Jr.

Fred Milling Jr. passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019.  He was born on September 10, 1942, to the late Fred Earl Milling Sr. and Cecil Sullivan Milling.

He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Becky Adams Milling.


Melissa Burnham Runnels

Melissa Burnham Runnels, 53, of Mendenhall, passed from this life Thursday at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was born Saturday, March 20, 1965.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 1, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall.


Homcoming festivites start October 17

Magee High School will celebrate its Homecoming Friday, October 18, on Trojan Field at 7:30 p.m. during half-time. The Homecoming parade will take place on Thursday, October 17, at 5:00 p.m. on Main Street in Magee. The students selected the theme, "Around the World" and will display their class floats during the parade.


Arrest Reports 10-17-2019

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office reported 17 arrests from October 7 to October 14.

The SCSO reported the following additional arrests: careless driving, speeding, disturbing the peace (2), warrant (5), DUI 1st, driving with license suspended, expired tag, capias, possession of a stolen firearm, hold, MDOC, and trespassing.
