Co-Lin to honor Pace, Fuller

John W. Pace of Hattiesburg and Barbara Dale Welch Fuller of Mendenhall will be honored as Alumni of the Year at Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 27, during the Alumni Association’s awards luncheon and annual meeting at 11 a.m. in the cafeteria on the college’s Wesson Campus.


Hit and run in D'lo


Sheriff Donald O’Cain reported that a hit and run occurred on September 8. Investigator Joe Andrews explained that at approximately 7:45 p.m. Robert Pope of D’Lo was struck by a vehicle on Highway 149 in D’Lo. Andrews said the suspected vehicle is a white Chevrolet or GMC four door that was pulling a black car hauler.

Fire Drill Wednesday Evening

Magee Mayor Dale Berry said if you hear a big bang Wednesdy evening behind Tractor Supply between 6:00 and 6:30, do not be alarmed.  The State Fire Department will be holding a drill with the Magee  Fire Department and other are departments.

Arrest report 8-30-2018

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office reported 27 arrest from August 20 to August 27.

Tommy O’neal Keys of 217 Hosey Road Magee MS was arrested on August 26 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and no driver’s license


School board delays election

After years of complying with restrictive hiring practices, the Simpson County School Board has issued payment to the law firm of Adams and Reese in conjunction with settlement of the court ordered consent decree from which the county has finally been released.
