Simpson County Ag Appreciation Day will be held on Friday, May 17, at the Simpson County Tech Center from 4-7 p.m.  Included are information on farm safety and a petting zoo.  Ribeye steak sandwiches with chips, drink and dessert will be sold.  The event is sponsored by SCTC FFA/MSU Extension Office.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Joyce Hubbard King, 69, Magee, were held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 11 a.m, from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Olive.  Interment was in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery, Magee.  Pastor Columbus O'Banner was the officiant.  Reeves Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Olive, was in charge of the arrangements.

Floyd Bennett Sartin

Floyd Bennett Sartin, Sr., 91, of Mt. Olive, passed away April 28, 2019, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.

Visitation was held on May 1, 2019, at New Hope Baptist Church in Mount Olive.

Justice Court and Municipal Judge Eugene Knight Resigns


Municipal Judge of Magee Eugene Knight turned in his resignation letter on June 21. Mayor Dale Berry confirmed that Knight’s resignation will become effective June 30. Knight has served as Magee’s municipal judge since May of 2003.Berry said, “There are no improprieties in the City of Magee concerning Judge Knight.


School board delays election

After years of complying with restrictive hiring practices, the Simpson County School Board has issued payment to the law firm of Adams and Reese in conjunction with settlement of the court ordered consent decree from which the county has finally been released.
